The Centre for Training and Research of Commercial Regulations (CTRCR) at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai focuses on the dissemination of the knowledge related to Corporate and Commercial Law prevailing in domestic as well as international arenas and covers the trends related to it. It works to bring together the experts in these areas of law to stimulate research and debate in Corporate and Commercial Laws and practice and to strengthen cooperation with other academic centres, international organizations, the legal profession, and fraternity.

About the Opportunity

The CTRCR at MNLU Mumbai is thrilled to announce the MNLU-M National Corporate Client Counselling Competition 2025 for students to engage with challenging, real-world corporate law issues. This unique platform will test participants’ skills in handling a complex corporate dispute scenario, requiring adept client management, legal interpretation, and strategic counselling.

The list of laws and subjects is indicative and non-exhaustive, including but not limited to:

  • Competition Law
  • Company Law
  • Insolvency Law
  • Banking Regulations/Law
  • Contract Law
  • Securities Law
  • Capital Markets
  • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A)
  • Financial Technology (FinTech) Law
  • Taxation Law

Eligibility

This competition is open to all law students enrolled in either a 5-year integrated law program or a 3-year LLB program. Students who have graduated within the last six months are also eligible to participate.

Registration fee

  • The registration fee for the Online Preliminary Rounds is Rs. 4000 per team.
  • An additional fee of Rs. 5000 per team will be incurred from the teams qualified for the Offline Advanced Rounds.
  • The advanced round’s fee needs to be paid only by the 4 teams that qualify for the offline advanced rounds of the competition.
  • The registration fee for the offline rounds (advanced rounds) is inclusive of accommodation that shall be provided by the Organising Committee. Accommodation is not optional.

Prizes

  • Best Team: Trophy, Internship and a Cash Prize of Rs. 20,000/-
  • 1st Runners up: Trophy, Internship and a Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/-
  • Best Counsel: Certificate, Internship and a Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/-
  • Best Upcoming team: Certificate, Internship and a Cash Prize of Rs. 10,000/- 

Important Dates

  • Provisional Registrations Open: 10th December, 2024
  • Provisional Registrations Close: 15th January, 2025
  • Final Registrations Close: 31st January, 2025
  • Documents Release: 1st February, 2025
  • Preliminary Rounds (Online): 21st-23rd February, 2025
  • Advanced Rounds (Offline): 12th-14th April, 2025

  • Institutional teams as well as Individual Open (Non-University) teams can register for the competition by 15th January 2025.
  • The expected team composition shall comprise 2 counsels. Selected students from MNLU Mumbai will role-play as clients in all rounds.
  • Providing team/participant details for the provisional registration form is not mandatory. The said details are to be submitted during the final registration.
  • An email confirming your slot will be sent by the Organising Committee, only after which the formalities for the Final Registration shall be completed.
