About Panjab University

The Department of Laws at Panjab University, Chandigarh, established in 1889 (relocated in 1959), is a premier institution for legal education. It offers LLB, LLM, and Ph.D. programs with a strong faculty, including professors and research scholars, focused on academic excellence, practical moot courts, and legal research.

About the CONFERENCE-CUM-WORKSHOP

The rapid convergence of technology, media, and commerce has transformed the landscape of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), particularly in advertising and branding. The increasing use of AI-generated content and deepfake technologies raises complex legal questions relating to authorship, ownership, consent, misappropriation of identity, and remedies for reputational and economic harm.

This conference seeks to critically examine the adequacy of existing legal frameworks, judicial trends, and regulatory mechanisms in addressing AI-driven manipulation and deceptive commercial practices. It aims to provide a rigorous academic platform for researchers, academicians, practitioners, industry stakeholders, and students to engage in meaningful discourse on contemporary issues at the intersection of IPR, technology law, data protection, and personality rights.

The workshop component will feature expert lectures and a keynote address, offering practical insights into emerging challenges in IPR, AI, and deepfake regulation.
