About The Opportunity

Each of the prior editions of our esteemed institution’s moot court competitions has drawn participation from top law schools, offering students a platform to engage with pressing legal issues and develop essential advocacy skills. The competition continues to uphold its reputation as a premier national moot, promoting intellectual rigour and legal excellence

This year’s St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara Moot Court Competition, 2025 examines whether the International Criminal Court of Justice (ICC) can prosecute war crimes committed by an official of a non-party State. It explores the legitimacy of an arrest warrant that concerns political bias, the tension between State sovereignty and international accountability, and the application of self-defence in international humanitarian law (IHL). The case raises key issues about jurisdiction, procedural integrity and the enforcement of international justice.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to bona fide undergraduate students of recognized colleges/institutions/universities who are currently pursuing their Bachelor’s Degree in Law i.e. 3 3-year LLB or 5-year Integrated or Honour’s LLB Programme with all combinations on a regular basis.

Each team shall comprise a maximum of three members and a minimum of two members. Under no condition shall a team consisting of more than 3 members or less than 2 members be allowed to participate.

Three-Member Team: Such Team shall designate two of its members as speakers; and shall designate one member, who has not been designated as a speaker, as a researcher. The team must, amongst its members, identify the speakers and the researcher at the time of registration.

Two-Member Team: In the event, that a team consists of two members then such a team shall designate both members as speakers. Teams shall identify the speakers and researcher during registration. No extra member or observer shall be allowed. No swapping of the designation of the members shall be allowed. No more than one team shall be allowed to register and participate in the competition from the same College / Institution / University.

1. Teams are required to complete their registration by 3RD APRIL, 2025 by 23:59 IST.
2. The final registration must be completed on or before 3 April 2025 by payment of Rs.4,000/- per team along with a bonafide letter from their moot court Faculty Coordinator/Dean/Principal with the details of the participating team to be sent to [email protected] by 23:59 IST.
3.  The registration shall be deemed complete only when the provisional registration form is duly filled, a bonafide letter from Moot Court Faculty Coordinator/Dean/Principal is received and the registration fee is paid.
4. Once the final registration is done Teams will get the confirmation email along with their Team Codes.
5. The confirmation of the names at the time of online registration shall be treated as final and no change of name shall be allowed thereafter, except if it is found to be necessary at the sole discretion of the Organizers.
6. The registration fee is non-refundable and no claim for refund of fee shall be entertained.
   Registration fees: ₹4000 (Rupees Four Thousand  Only).
