About Institute Of Constitutional And Parliamentary Studies (Icps)

The Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies (ICPS) is a premier research and training institute in India, dedicated to advancing knowledge in constitutional and parliamentary affairs. It was established on 10th December 1965 and was inaugurated by the then President of India and Chief Patron of the Institute, (late) Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, in the Central Hall of Parliament House, New Delhi.

 About The Competition

The competition aims to equip law students with essential legislative drafting skills, enabling them to draft clear, precise, and effective legal documents. Participants will gain hands-on experience in structuring legislation, ensuring legal clarity, and addressing contemporary legal challenges. This platform fosters critical thinking and analytical skills necessary for legal drafting, preparing students for roles in policymaking and legal reforms. Through this competition, students will engage with real-world legislative issues and develop an in-depth understanding of the law-making process.

Theme

The theme for the Legislative Drafting Competition is “The Artificial Intelligence (Development and Regulation) Act.

Eligibility And Team Composition

  • Open to students currently pursuing their Undergraduate Degree in law or Postgraduate Degree (3- year LL.B., 5-year LL.B., or LL.M.).
  • Participants may register individually or in a team of maximum 2 members.

Stages Of Competition

  • Submission of the draft by 15th April 2025.
  • The top 8 teams will present their draft legislation in final round (Virtual).
