About CNLU

Chanakya National Law University [CNLU] is an autonomous law university in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established in 2006 by the Government of Bihar as a public university dedicated to the field of Legal Education.

About Chanakya Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution

The Chanakya Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CCADR) has been established at Chanakya National Law University, Patna, in the year 2021, with the objective of promoting academic research on themes pertaining to the resolution of disputes.

With the establishment of this research centre, we aim to develop a congenial environment for students and researchers to further their interest in ADR, which enables skill development and helps us compete at the national and international levels. CCADR will strive to promote different dispute resolution methods, get involved in the policy framework related to ADR, and encourage law students to participate in ADR by conducting competitions, workshops and promoting research.

About the Guest Lecture

The lecture is a vision of CCADR to provide a platform for students as well as young practitioners to learn from the experience of ADR, such as Arbitration, Mediation, and Negotiation experts.

Speaker’s Details

  • Mr. Prakhar Deep: Mr. Prakhar is a Principal Associate at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. He specialises in commercial remedies involving infrastructure, real estate development projects, supply contracts & business exit agreements related to arbitrations & its ancillary litigation in High Court and Supreme Court of India.

He regularly advises and represents Indian and foreign clients in institutional arbitrations under the aegis of institutions such as the ICC, SIAC, LCIA, ICA and DIAC, as well as in ad-hoc arbitrations having a seat in India and abroad. The total sum involved in these disputes is in excess of INR 10,000 Crores / USD 1.3 Billion.

Some of the notable clients that Prakhar has advised and represented include GE T&D India Ltd, Reliance Construction Infra Ltd, Carrier Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd., Aesseal Plc, Fresenius Medicare Pvt. Ltd, major Govt. of India undertakings such as Ircon International Limited and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Prakhar was part of the Arbitration Team of Link Legal India Law Services, New Delhi.
