Expert Speaker

The Keynote Speaker of the webinar will be Prof. Dr. Shailendra Kumar Gupta.

Prof. Dr. Shailendra Kumar Gupta is a trailblazing Professor of Law at Banaras Hindu University. Dr. Gupta’s expertise extends beyond academia, spearheading the multidisciplinary Academiqe (now Accademiic) at BHU, hosting over 350 enlightening sessions.

Prof. Gupta, as BHU Legal Aid Clinic’s Executive Director, filed a PIL in Allahabad High Court on inhumane conditions in UP prisons. Ongoing, it led to court directives. He pioneered various initiatives, including legal aid centers, workshops, and summer training. With the Varanasi District Probation Office, he established a center at the Juvenile Home. Prof. Gupta mentored 50+ student volunteers, emphasizing leadership and social service. His research project with Prof. David W. Tushaus on legal aid clinics in India was published in an international law journal.

Prof. Gupta has a special interest in public education and advocacy. He is also a Member of the Consumer Advocacy Group, Hyderabad which consists of about one thousand public-spirited persons from India and abroad. Prof. Gupta is the founding trusty of the Just Discourses Foundation Trust, New Delhi.

Prof. Gupta sincerely believes in the cherished vision of great Indian civilization which aims to achieve the goal of ‘one earth, one family’.
