About VIPS Journal of Law & Development

After the noteworthy success of “VIPS Student Law Review”, the Centre of Legal Research and Development under the aegis of VSLLS is bringing another flagship journal “VIPS Journal of Law & Development” (VJLD). VJLD is a double-blind, peer-reviewed annual journal which focuses on law and policy development.

Submission Category

The editorial board of VIPS Journal of Law & Development is inviting quality research papers on law and legal policies, including its allied branches.

The Journal seeks to provide a platform for engaging in multi-disciplinary discussions on themes of law, society and justice. The submission can be sent under the following categories:

  • Long Articles. Between 4000 to 6000 words, inclusive of footnotes
  • Short Articles: Between 3000 to 5000 words, inclusive of footnotes.
  • Case Comments/Book Review: Between 2000 – 3000 words, inclusive of footnotes.

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions must be compatible with Microsoft Word.
  • Kindly note that if formatting guidelines are not adhered to, the manuscript will not be selected for publication.
  • The research paper should not contain any reference to the identity of the author in in order to enable anonymous screening and peer review.
  • Each submission should be accompanied by an abstract of not more than 300 words.
  • The submission must be the original work of the authors. Any manuscript above 10% plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
  • Authors should refrain from using AI-generated or paraphrased content. Any attempt to unduly use AI tools for content creation or manipulation may lead to disqualification.
  • Submitted entries must not have been sent for consideration at any other place for publication. A declaration to the same effect must accompany each submission. Check the annexure attached in the official notification.
  • VIPS Journal of Law & Development follows the Harvard Bluebook [20th Edition] citation style. Authors are requested to follow the same. Check the annexure attached in the official notification.
  • Copyright of all the published articles in the said journal shall exclusively vest with VIPS Journal of Law & Development.
  • One complimentary hard copy of the Journal would be given to the first author after publication.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Submissions should be in Times New Roman, 12 font size with 1.5 line spacing, justified text and 1-inch margins on all sides of an A4 sheet.
  • The format for numbering is as follows:
    • MAIN HEADING
    • Subheading
       1.1 Sub-Sub Heading
       1.1.1 Sub-Sub-Sub Heading
  • The page number should be centre-aligned at the bottom of each page.
  • Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, font size 10, with single line spacing.
  • Graphics, Charts, Tables, and Diagrams should be numbered consecutively and included in the body of the work.
