About the Organisation
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, established in 2016 under the Himachal Pradesh National Law University Act (16 of 2016), is a premier institution dedicated to advancing legal education and research. Nestled in the serene Himalayas, the University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs with a focus on interdisciplinary and practical legal education.
About the Journal
The HPNLU Law Journal (HLJ) is envisioned to be an annual online publication, owned and published by the HPNLU, Shimla. The periodical is intended to provide a forum to the judges, professors, research scholars and students for exposition on contemporary legal issues. HLJ finds its genesis in the backdrop that the role of an institution is beyond traditional classroom interaction. It includes deliberations that can affect the society in multifarious ways and support the progressive values that are imbibed in the Constitution.
The topography, where the University is located, resembles the terrains of law and provides the most conducive opportunity for a publication such as HLJ that dwells deeper into the realms and nuances of these terrains of law and legal system. HPNLU Law Journal strives to be the premier source for academic analysis of legal issues, such that scholars, professionals, news media, and the general public turn to HPNLU Law Journal when complicated issues arise.
Along with exploring the various problems and challenges that affect the legal world, the Journal attempts to explore and offer workable solutions, which may be helpful. Our mission is to promote social change and intellectual debate through the publication and advancement in-depth and innovative legal scholarship. We are committed to exploring new directions and perspectives in the legal field.
About Call for Papers
Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, is extending the deadlines for its Call for Papers for the Fourth Volume of its annual publication, HPNLU LAW JOURNAL (HLJ) (ISSN: 2582-8533).
Eligibility
In this regard, submissions under different categories are invited from interested faculty members, research scholars, judges, professionals, and students.
Theme
The volume is not restricted to any particular theme and submission of manuscripts with an inter-disciplinary perspective on contemporary socio-legal issues, theories, and developments, awaiting scholarly treatment are encouraged.
Categories for Submissions
- Lead or Special Articles – 10000-15000 words
- Articles – 8000-12000 words
- Case Comments – 5000-8000 words
- Notes including Legislative Comments – 5000-8000 words
- Book Reviews – 2000-3000 words
Formatting and Submission Guidelines
All contributions have to be submitted in electronic form. The paper should be processed in MS Office and the following guidelines must be followed –
- Paragraphs should be double-spaced.
- Margin on the left and the right-hand side for the paragraphs should be one and a half inches.
- Font should be in type – Palatino Linotype and size – 11, throughout the paper.
- Footnotes should be in font size 10.
- Use of italics, bold font, and single inverted commas is suggested for the manuscript.
- The Publication Policy, Submission Guidelines, and prescribed Citation Style of the Law Review may be accessed here.
Submission Deadline
The last date for submission of manuscripts is January 31, 2025 11:59 PM.
Submission Procedure
Author(s) must send a covering letter mentioning the title of the paper, name, designation, and details of the author(s) as well as institutional affiliation. The author is compulsorily required to make a solemn declaration about the originality of the manuscript and that the same has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
