Call for Chapters | Monograph on “International Parental Child Abduction” by CCYJ, NALSAR: Submit by Feb 15

The Centre for Child and Youth Justice (CCYJ) at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, in collaboration with CRY (Child Rights and You) under the project “Access to Justice for Children through Systems Strengthening on Child Protection Issues” invites contributions for a monograph on “International Parental Child Abduction.”

About CCYJ, NALSAR

The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad was established in 1998. Since its inception, the university has been home to vital conversations on law and justice and used law as an instrument of social change. NALSAR University of Law established the Centre for Child and Youth Justice (CCYJ) as a specialised centre dedicated to advancing the rights and welfare of children & youth through research, advocacy, and education. The mission of the Centre is to serve the children through law.

About the Monograph

Parental child abduction, particularly across international borders, occurs when a parent unlawfully removes or retains a child in a foreign jurisdiction, often violating custody arrangements. It falls under the purview of international family law. It is governed globally by the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, 1980, which seeks to ensure the prompt return of abducted children to their habitual residence.

While many countries sign the Convention, India is not yet a member, raising unique legal and diplomatic challenges. This issue involves a complex interplay of private international law, child rights and domestic legal systems. The CCYJ Monograph on International Parental Child Abduction aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of this issue by critically analyzing its legal, social and psychological dimensions. It will explore legislative frameworks, policy gaps, judicial approaches and emerging trends globally with a special focus on the Indian perspective.

Eligibility

Academicians, legal practitioners, policymakers, students, research scholars, NGOs, and stakeholders with expertise or interest in child rights and family laws are encouraged to contribute.

Submission Guidelines

• Originality: Chapters must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere.
• Co-authorship: Up to two authors allowed.
• Language: English
• Word Limit: 5000-6000 words (excluding abstract and footnotes)

Formatting

• Font: Times New Roman, 12-point, double-spaced
• Margin: 1 inch on all sides
• Referencing Style: Bluebook 21st Edition

Fee

There is No Submission/ Publication Fee.

Selection Process

Submissions will undergo a rigorous two-stage blind review process. Based on the editorial board’s recommendations, the chapter will be accepted and sent back to the authors to be revised. In case of non-acceptance, no separate information will be given.

Open Access Publication

The monograph will be fully open access, ensuring free and universal availability for reading, downloading and sharing on the official website of the Centre of Child & Youth Justice, NALSAR University of Law.
