About the Competition
The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Board at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of dispute resolution mechanisms such as Arbitration, Mediation, Negotiation, and Conciliation. By organizing various initiatives, the Board equips students with the skills and exposure to navigate complex disputes effectively.
As part of its flagship events, the Board proudly presents the 5th Edition of the CHRIST Med-Arb Competition, aimed at developing future members of the Indian legal fraternity and promoting efficient dispute resolution methods. Renamed to reflect its association with CHRIST, the competition builds on the success of previous editions, which have hosted acclaimed national-level mediation and arbitration rounds.
Competition Details
This is the 5th Edition of the CHRIST Med-Arb Competition, the flagship event of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board, School of Law. The aim is to create a platform for like-minded individuals interested in Alternative Dispute Resolution to indulge in an intellectual and thought-provoking competitive simulation of Mediation and Arbitration. The competitions will be held from the 13th to the 15th of February 2025. The brochure holds detailed information regarding the competition.
The event is proud to collaborate with esteemed law firms, J. Sagar Associates (JSA), Nishith Desai Associates, Luthra & Luthra Law Offices (now L&L Partners Law Offices), IndusLaw, Poovayya & Co., ALMT Legal, Dentons Link Legal, CrestLaw Partners, Keystone Partners. Meditation partner, CAMP Arbitration and Mediation Practice, and mentoring partner, FCDR (Foundation for Comprehensive Dispute Resolution) and media partners, SCC Online and MediateGuru and knowledge partners, SCC Online and EBC.
These law firms bring extensive expertise, contributing to the competition’s success and reflecting the commitment of the legal community to support the growth of future legal professionals.
Eligibility
Each participating team shall consist of 3 members, where two members shall act as a client and counsel pair and one member as Mediator/Arbitrator. The role of the members shall not be changed (i.e., the participant in the role of Mediator/Arbitrator shall continue to play the role throughout the competition). The Arbitration rounds shall constitute 2 Counsels from each team. No team shall be accompanied by a coach/Instructor.
All the teams shall participate in both sessions (a Mediation Session followed by an Arbitration Session) in all the rounds. There will be a provisional cap of 40 teams who will be invited from leading law schools in India (the number of teams is subject to change based on the discretion of the ADR Board).
Format of the Competition
- Preliminary Rounds – All Competing Teams.
- Quarterfinals – 8 top teams from preliminary rounds.
- Semi-Finals – 4 top teams from the Quarterfinal rounds.
- Finals – 2 top teams from the Semi-final rounds.
The participant acting as arbitrator for a particular session shall individually prepare an arbitral award within the time allotted for such an Arbitral award drafting session.

- Commencement of Provisional Registration: 12th December 2024
- Deadline for Provisional Registration: 21st December 2024
- Release of Problem: 12th December 2024
- Last date for Final Registration and Payment: 1st January 2025
- Last day for seeking clarifications: 5th January 2025
- Last date for written submissions: 18th January, 2025
- Competition Dates: 13th, 14th and 15th February, 2025
