About the Organisation

St. Xavier’s University, Kolkata ( S U K ) was born out of a vision to create a centre of excellence in higher education in West Bengal. The University’s academic programmes are designed to foster intellectual growth, critical thinking, and creativity. Xavier Business School (XBS) and Xavier Law School are two specialised schools within SXUK. XBS offers an AICTE-approved two-year MBA programme, while Xavier Law School provides BCI-approved five-year integrated law programmes. As a Jesuit institution, SXUK is committed to forming “men and women for others” who embody ethical leadership, social responsibility, and compassion.

About the Conference

Structural impediments to gender equality exist and gender-based discrimination persists in spite of the efforts by the government, democratic institutions and other key stakeholders. The one-day conference focuses on providing a single platform for experts from various fields like social thinkers, academicians, research scholars and the legal fraternity to put forward their views.

Objectives

• To prevent and combat gender discrimination.
• To provide knowledge, techniques and tools to develop skills and changes in attitude and behaviors.
• To raise awareness of gender equality concerns by providing the participants with basic facts, evidence, and arguments on various topics relating to gender women empowerment and sustainable development.
