Brief Profile of Shree K.P.Shah Law College, Jamnagar
On 15th of August, when British India saw the dawn of freedom, Saurashtra was still slumbering. Jamnagar was one of the 202 native states of the region ruled over by native princes. We here, were backward was lack of proper educational facilities. Although Jamnagar was one of the frontline state, it had 3 high schools only. The number of primary schools also was very small. It was quite natural that the first task the popular rulers of newly formed state of Saurashtra and the leading citizens placed before themselves was the spread of education.
The late Kantilal P. Shah, an enlightened citizen of Jamnagar- He later on became an M.L.A., Chairman of the State Transport Corporation and State Finance Corporation. He got together like-minded people like late Fulchand Tamboli, Harjivandas Bardanwala, Keshubhai Valia, all prominent citizens, and Smt Manjulaben Dave, Leading social worker of Jamnagar, and others and them formed a society and got it registered as Shri Vidyottejak Mandal in 1953, with the aim of establishing education institutions, catering to the needs of different age groupst.
