HNLU’s HMCC Goes International

In the valedictory ceremony of the prestigious flagship event of HNLU, Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition (HNMCC,) Prof.V.C.Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU announced “ The HNMCC makes a big leap for conducting International Moot named hereafter as Hidayatullah International Moot Court Competition (HIMCC) which will be held on March 15-17 of 2024 at HNLU campus with a substantial budget where we expect world teams to participate.” He further remarked, “This evolution is based on the consistent organization capacity of the HNLU Student-Faculty teams of the past HNMCC events and also will be the first global moot event for any law school in the country where the preparations will start from April 2023”

The XIIIth edition of the CCI – HNMCC’23, the 3-day flagship event of HNLU, successfully concluded on 19th March 2023. The moot court competition witnessed participation from 38 law schools comprising of 114 students judged by 60 invited judges. After a fiercely competitive conclusion of the semi-finals, the two exceptional teams that made it to the grand finale of this prestigious event were the National Law University, Odisha& University of Petroleum and Energy Studies.

Following an intense final, the winners for this year’s HNMCC were the University of Petroleum and Energy Studiesrepresented by Ms. Yashaswini Parashar, Anshika Agarwal and Utsav Vats, whereas Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur, represented by Anika Sharma, Ghanishtha Mishra and Sharwari Motghares bagged the Best Memorial Award. The Best Speaker Award went to Mr. Vinayak Sanjay Buckshee, Damodaran Sanjivayya National Law University, while Mr. Ayush Morande, Maharashtra Law University, Mumbai, claimed the Best Researcher Award.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Goutam Bhaduri, Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, and Chancellor, HNLU participated as the Chief Guest and remarked that all are winners while participating and no losers. He  went on to urge student of Six Qualities to imbibe to succeed in life and emphasized ‘Respect for Teachers’ as a crucial one. He extensively quoted Swami Vivekananda and underlined concentration, hard work and self esteem as fundamental qualities to succeed in profession and life.

The final round was presided over by a special bench of five judges, comprising Prof. Dr. A. David Ambrose, former Professor and Head of the Department of Legal Studies, University of Madras, Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor IILM University & Member  Executive Council and General Council, HNLU, Adv. R. Muralidharan, Patent and Trademark Attorney, Manu Associates, Mr. Ved Prakash Mishra, Advisor (Law) & Head of the Legal Division, Competition Commission of India, and Mr. Bharat Budholia, a Partner at AZB and Partners, which is the official sponsor as well for the event.

The event was executed flawlessly by  Dr Anindya Tiwari, faculty & Organising Secretary with his team of faculty and students
