Over the past one decade The Department of Law, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong has made significant progress in terms of restructuring courses and syllabi, introducing new course, experimenting with innovative techniques of imparting legal education and strengthening its Clinical Programme in order to give due emphasis to the expanding horizon of legal profession.

The Department of Law, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong organises a national Moot Court Competition by the name NEHU National Moot Court Competition. The students of the Department also participate in different National and International Moot-Court Competitions organized by other Universities.
