Syllabus: Uttarakhand Judicial Services (Civil Judge)

  1. Phase 1 – Prelims examination is of objective type.
  2. Phase 2 – Mains examination is of written type.
  3. Phase 3 – Interview

Negative marking of 0.25 will be deducted for the wrongly attempted questions in the prelims examination.

PHASE 1 – PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

You will face the preliminary exam first which is an objective test of 200 Marks.The question will be based on following parts:

PART 1 – GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (50 Marks)

It will include the following:

  1. Day to day events around India and the world specially related to Law.
  2. Questions mainly asked from International Law, Neutrality, Indian Constitution, Recent Legislations and Developments but will not be confined to it.

PART 2 – LAW (150 MARKS)

  1. Transfer of Property Act
  2. Hindu Law / Mohammedan Law
  3. Indian Evidence Act
  4. Criminal Procedure Code
  5. Indian Penal Code
  6. Code of Civil Procedure

PHASE 2 – MAINS EXAMINATION

The exam is conducted under the five papers :PAPER I – PRESENT DAY (150 marks)

This paper will consist of following:

  1. Current events related to India & the world.
  2. Generally questions are asked from current developments in the following:
  3. – legal field
  4. – Jurisprudence
  5. – International Law
  6. – Neutrality
  7. – Recent Legislations
  8. – Constitutional Law and Development

PAPER II – LANGUAGE (100 mark)

  1. Translation from English to Hindi – 30 marks
  2. Translation from Hindi to English – 30 marks
  3. Precise writing in English – 40 marks

PAPER III – LAW PAPER I (200 marks)

You will be asked question based on the Following:

  1. Indian Contract Act
  2. Partnership Act
  3. Trust, Easement and Equity
  4. Law of Tort
  5. Transfer of Property Act
  6. Hindu Law
  7. Mohammedan Law
  8. Specific Relief Act

PAPER IV – LAW PAPER II (200 marks)

You will be asked question based on the Following:

  1. Indian Evidence Act
  2. Criminal Procedure Code
  3. Civil Procedure Code

PAPER V – LAW PAPER III (CRIMINAL, REVENUE AND LOCAL LAND LAWS) (200 Marks)

You will be asked question based on the Following:

  1. Indian Penal Code
  2. U.P. Zamindari Abolition & Land Reforms Act (as applicable to Uttrakhand)

NOTE : Minimum marks are 40% in each written paper and aggregate of 50% to qualify for interview. Relaxation of 5% each has been made for SC/ST/PWD.

PHASE 3 – INTERVIEW

  1. Interview will carry 100 Marks
  2. Proper Knowledge of COMPUTER is essential
